Schedule Your Glencoe Chimney Cleaning and Be Ready for the Wintry Season

A thorough Glencoe chimney cleaning can be a great way to ease your mind about potential fires during the winter months. An experienced company can come in and provide the cleaning at a reasonable cost. They can take a look at the chimney and make sure all of the parts are in working order and there is no concern about the use of the chimney during the winter.

Some people skip this necessary cleaning, intending to do it on their own and then getting sidetracked from that plan as well. If you continue to neglect your chimney, negative consequences can occur. This can be something minor, like causing cracks, to having smoke back up into your home to make everyone uncomfortable. Obviously, the worst case scenario is a fire that damages your home and may require you to seek shelter elsewhere until it can be fixed.

Peace of Mind Can Come Simply with Regular Cleaning

For these reasons, it is a wise idea to look up a reputable chimney cleaning company and have that company come in at a predetermined time to look over your chimney and let you know what problems they can see occurring, if any.

People who have their Glencoe chimney cleaning scheduled for annual completion, or more regularly, have that confidence that they have protected their family from fire and smoke, as well as knowing they have a steady relationship with the company who cleans the chimney. This means they have backup should an unforeseen issue with the chimney arise as the fire burns merrily below it.

Make An Appointment Today to Receive a Clean Chimney
Keep in mind that as fall develops and summer becomes a distant memory, a lot of your neighbors will be scrambling to prepare for that first cold spell. Get an appointment today to have your chimney cleaned, and you can sit back and enjoy the scramble as you have already done your preparations before they become unavoidable.

There is enough to worry about when the cooler weather is about to set in. You have to think of winter tires and preventative maintenance for your car. Make sure your home is already prepared, or that you have time to put plastic over the windows or whatever other winter counter-measures you have planned for your home. The chimney cleaning can be scheduled, the company can come do the work, and your worries can wash away with a tasty cup of hot cocoa. Then, you can put your feet up and enjoy the warmth of your fire as you catch up on your primetime television watching.

Cold weather does not have to mean stress and discomfort. Instead, opt for a regularly scheduled Glencoe chimney cleaning and know that you are doing your best to keep your home prepared for the various seasons and all the little issues that can arise based on the weather and the plans you have for that season. Hiring a reputable company to do the cleaning for you means less time and less stress for you all around.

How Does Chimney Cleaning Work?

Chicago chimney cleaning
If you’ve called in Chicago chimney cleaning company to come and take care of your chimney sweeping, then you may be curious as to what they’re going to do during their time with your chimney. How do they make sure that it’s going to be able to stay as clean as possible for as long as possible? Every company does things a little differently, but in this article, we’re going to give you a general idea as to how many Chicago chimney cleaning companies will take care of your needs.

They’ll start off by doing a complete inspection of your chimney to make sure that there aren’t any problems with it.

The inspection of your chimney is a vital part of the process, mainly because they want to see if there are any issues that they have to deal with. The visual inspection does take a bit of time to do, but it’s not as long as the second inspection, which we’re going to talk about below. They’re basically looking for any holes or leaks that should get corrected at some point, either as part of the cleaning process or with an appointment that will deal with it after everything is done.
They will utilize a variety of tools, including cameras and other visual technologies, to ensure that they are able to see all of the debris and soot that is in your chimney and get it out.

With new technology, it has gotten a lot easier for Chicago chimney cleaning services to check out what is going on inside of your chimney. Instead of just putting the brooms and vacuums inside of your chimney and hoping that they got it all out, they’re able to check out what is going on in there and make sure that they’ve gotten every little bit out. Most of this is done with cameras that give your sweeps a good idea as to where some of the buildup areas are and where they may need to do a second cleaning if they didn’t get it all the first time. This can be incredibly helpful and makes the job go much quicker than it did in times past.

They will finish by doing another visual inspection.

This is the more important visual inspection, mainly because there is nothing that is blocking them from seeing other holes, gaps, and other problems. They may use the camera again at this point because it gives them a much better idea when it comes to whether certain problems may be located and how they need to fix them. They’ll mark locations where they need to go in and fix things, and they’ll let you know about how much it will cost their company to come in and try to take care of the newly discovered issues for you.

If there are any repairs that need to be made, they will schedule another appointment with you to make sure that you can get it fixed before the next time that you use the chimney.

This depends on the company. Some companies expect that they’re going to have to do repairs on your chimney, so they include that time in when they’re setting up your original cleaning appointment, so you won’t have to make another appointment. If there are a lot of repairs that need to be done, or there isn’t enough time for them to be able to do so, then they’ll set you up with an appointment as soon as possible so that they can get the problems fixed before winter comes or before they get any worse.

So, as you can see, there are a lot of things that need to be considered when you’re looking at dealing with the chimney. Since you have to make sure that you’ve got a clean and safe chimney when winter hits, make sure that you give our Chicago chimney cleaning company a call. We can give you a quote, get you set up with an appointment, and do everything that we talked about above to make sure that your chimney is safe and ready to go. Give us a call today to learn more.

Benefits of a Ventless Gas Fireplace

Fireplaces are becoming very popular nowadays, if for no other reason than to reduce the high heating bills that they pay on a regular basis. There are all sorts out there for you to choose from and all of them have their own pros and cons that they bring to the table. In this brief blog, we’re going to give you an idea as to the advantages that can come with a ventless gas fireplace and how it can help you and your family to stay warm during the winter.

These fireplaces end up costing a lot less to heat your home.

If you don’t lose a lot of heat then it’s going to cost you a lot less to use something, right? Chimneys can actually cause you to lose a ton of heat if you don’t take care of them and you aren’t careful, so you want to make sure that you’ve got something that is going to keep the heat in your home. By getting a ventless gas fireplace, you don’t have to worry about losing all of that heat because you don’t have a chimney to deal with in the first place, which brings us to our next point.

You don’t have to install a chimney, so it won’t require a full remodel.

If you’re going to put a new fireplace into your home, you usually also assume that you’re going to have to install a chimney. Chimney installation on existing homes can get pretty pricey if you aren’t careful and you don’t compare prices. Why not get rid of the chimney all together? Sounds simple enough, but there aren’t many models of fireplaces that don’t need a chimney. A ventless gas fireplace, however, will give you that flexibility and will save you a lot of cash and energy that you would have had to put into a remodel.

They’re usually a lot cleaner to deal with than other traditional fireplace models.

Think about all of the mess that a fireplace has. You have to make sure that all of the ashes or coals are cleaned out and you have to get a chimney sweep to come in and take care of it for you at least once a year or more. With a ventless gas fireplace, you don’t have to worry about that at all – instead, you have a lot less to deal with when it comes to cleaning up the fireplace at the end of the winter. You’ll have to sweep and dust, but you don’t have to deal with potential fire hazards like you would otherwise.

So, as you can see, there are lots of different things that benefit you when you have a ventless gas fireplace installed in your home. Do you think one of these unique fireplaces is the right choice for you and your family? Then you will want to take a look at everything that we have to offer at our website. We can sell and install fireplace(s) for you to utilize.

Choosing the Right Outdoor Fireplace

If you’ve been looking to invest in a Chicago outdoor fireplace, then there are a number of things that you are likely thinking about. These are great little items for you to choose for your own yard, so you want to make sure that you pick the right one. Wondering about some tips that you can use in order to make sure that you get the right outdoor fireplace for your needs? Take a look at these questions and be certain to ask them when you’re trying to pick one of these great little investments.
outdoor fireplace installation

What sort of design do you want to get for your fireplace?

This is the first thing that you’re going to have to think about when it comes to choosing the right outdoor fireplace for your needs. What sort of design are you going to want to get for it, and how is that going to affect exactly what you’re going to do when you purchase your fireplace? Are you looking for something that is going to come off as really simple, or are you looking for something that stands out and is a little more elaborate? What sort of chimney do you want on it? Your design is a huge part of your outdoor fireplace, so make sure that you give that a lot of consideration before you decide.

What sort of fuel are you looking to use with your outdoor fireplace?

There are a ton of different types of outdoor fireplaces out there, and there are almost as many types of fuel that you can use in them. Are you looking for an old style, traditional wood fireplace that you can use and smell the wonderful scent of wood burning? Or are you looking for something a little more efficient, like a natural gas fireplace? You don’t have to be limited to just a few different choices – you have a lot that you can work with and you can feel comfortable with whatever decision that you end up making in the long run. Talk to your installation specialist to see what they suggest for your area and your usage purposes.

Where do you plan on putting it?

This is another thing that you’re absolutely going to have to figure out, even before you look for the design. You don’t want to get one that is too big for the area that you’re putting it in, or that is so small that it’s going to look awkward. Get a size range that you’re comfortable with deciding on and measure it out so that you know exactly what you plan on dealing with when you’re taking care of the issue at hand. On top of that, this can help you with landscaping and designing the rest of your yard as well. Your outdoor fireplace is going to be a centerpiece of your yard, so you want to make sure that you put everything else that you’re using around it.

Are there any restrictions that you’re going to have to worry about?

Some counties, townships, and other municipalities may have some restrictions when it comes to outdoor fireplaces. Because of that, you want to make sure that you know what you’re getting into before you even decide on what exactly you’re going to want to use. Look around at all of the different laws that are in place, ask questions of the appropriate parties, and make sure that you have a firm understanding of whatever it is that you’re going to be dealing with. Your Chicago outdoor fireplace installation specialist is going to be able to give you a good idea of these things as well, so make sure that you talk to them about it; they should know as long as you’re able to tell them your location.

These are just the beginning. If you want to make sure that you’ve got exactly what you need when it comes to an outdoor fireplace, then give our Chicago outdoor fireplace installation specialists a call today. We can give you all of the information that you’re looking for about outdoor fireplaces and help you to decide on which one is going to best fit your needs and your purposes.

Should I Get a Direct Vent Gas Fireplace ?

direct vent gas fireplace

A new fireplace is always a great idea if you want to make sure that your home stays warm and cozy throughout the winter months. That being said, should you get a direct vent gas fireplace, or should you get some other sort of fireplace? Direct vent gas fireplaces are becoming more popular so it’s no wonder that you are considering one. Here are some things to consider before you decide to get a direct vent gas fireplace.

Are you looking for a fireplace that is a lot safer than some of the other models that are out there ?

Fireplaces are, sadly, a dangerous thing to have at times. If you aren’t cleaning them out regularly or there is build up that you can’t find, it could end up causing a number of issues for your family. So, by getting a direct vent fireplace, you’re going to be in a much better spot when it comes to maintaining it. All you have to do is make sure that the vents are clear and that there isn’t any extra debris in your fireplace when you fill it up. Easy job, and really safe for your home and family.
Do you want to get the most out of the heat source that you’re putting into your fireplace ?

Some fireplaces, especially those with chimneys, are more likely to lose a lot of the heat that you’re trying to put into them. That being said, it’s important that you find a heat source where most of the heat source that you’re putting into it is going to end up being used as a heat source. This is vital for a number of reasons, most of all saving you money. A direct vent gas fireplace is going to end up costing you a lot less than it would have for you to deal with any other sort of heating system.

Are you looking for something that you can put anywhere in your home ?

This is important. There are only so many places that you can put a fireplace with a chimney. But, if you’re going to use a ventless gas fireplace, it’s a lot easier for you to install and take care of, which can end up saving you a lot of time and money in the long run. Just find an area in your home where you can install the vent (which is much smaller than a whole chimney), get it installed, and you’ll be ready to go, no matter what time of year it is when you install it.

If you answer yes to all of these questions, then a direct vent gas fireplace may be the thing for you. These fireplaces meet all of those requirements and more. Are you looking for a company that can help you to get one installed? Then give us a call today – we’ll help you out and give you the resources that you need in order to get it done correctly.

So, make sure that you put together a bar as well. Have a fridge in a good spot to keep things cool, as well, including condiments and whatever else you may need in order to throw the best party.

Seating Area with Fire Pit or Fireplace

What’s an outdoor kitchen without somewhere for your guests to kick back and relax? While you’re busy showing off your amazing grilling skills, your buddies can sit around the fire pit, tell stories, and enjoy everything that your outdoor kitchen has to offer them. Don’t skimp on this part – there are so many different things that you can get for your seating arrangements, so get creative with it. Get comfortable patio chairs, get a couple of tables, and have a good time designing it Chicago gas fireplace insert. If you aren’t sure what you want to do with the area yourself, ask your buddies for ideas or use them as resources. You can also do some research on the internet to see what other people have done.

There are a lot of other “must haves” when it comes to putting together your outdoor kitchen, including accessories for your grill, a fun apron, and more. But when you’re putting together a place to do your cooking, you need to have all of the things that we’ve talked about here at Chicago chimney repair. Picking a Grill for Your Outdoor Patio Kitchen

You’ve got the area all set up. You’ve determined exactly what you’re going to do with the different spaces in your outdoor patio kitchen. But you still haven’t found the centerpiece – the most important thing. The grill! How can you choose the best grill for your outdoor kitchen? Here are some of the best tips that you can use while making that decision.

Gas, Charcoal, or Something Else?

This is always the first question that you want to ask when you’re looking at grills. Are you going to get a grill that cooks with gas, are you going to get a grill that cooks with charcoal, or are you going to get creative. If you’re going all out, you may be considering making an outdoor oven of some sort (brick ovens are actually getting really popular, so it’s not out of the realm of possibility for people to do). But, it depends. Some people love the delicious taste that comes with grilling with charcoal. Others prefer the speed, convenience, and precision of the gas grill. It’s all about you and how you like to grill.

How Much Food Are you Making at a Time?

Now that you know what you’re cooking with, you’ve cut your choices down a bit. The next thing that you want to take a look at is the size of the grill that you’re getting. Obviously, you’re going to be limited by the amount of space you have for your outdoor patio kitchen, but you also want to consider a couple of other things. Are you going to want to buy a huge grill when you’re only cooking for a few people at a time? Or do you plan on throwing a party and cooking up burgers for all of your buddies at the same time? These should also factor into your decision when you’re figuring out how big your grill is going to be.

How Do You Make Your Grill “You?”

The last step is personalizing that grill so people know that it’s yours. You could do this in any number of ways. You could get it customized with something that is unique just to you. Or, you can get it in a color that you really like.  Also make sure that you accessorize well. A lot of people will get a special grilling apron that they only use when they’re using their outdoor patio kitchens. You can also get grilling tools that you get personalized as well. It’s all about having fun and making this grilling and kitchen space unique to who you are.

What are you waiting for? The grill of your dreams is out there, waiting for you to purchase it and add it to your outdoor patio kitchen! Do your research ahead of time, and then go out there and nab the one that is going to best fulfill your needs and your desires when it comes to grilling for your family and your pals.

What You Need to Know about Gas Fireplace Conversions

A fireplace in the home adds a touch of class to whatever room it graces, and, of course, can be a great option for keeping warm during the winter. However, many people would like to update their older fireplace, just like they do for other features of their home. Fortunately, a gas fireplace conversion is an easy and relatively affordable option that has become quite popular in recent years.

The Problem with Older Fireplaces

If you’re on the fence about the idea or you haven’t even considered it, there are a couple reasons why most people would rather do without their old fireplace. One is simply that it’s inconvenient. In the age of smartphones and Wi-Fi, no one wants to be troubled by manually loading up a hearth with wood and getting a fire started. This process not only takes longer than most would like, but also can also cause quite the mess.

Many people aren’t too fond of their chimney either. The old-fashioned kind can demand regular cleaning, especially if you have a pest problem. Squirrels, birds and even bats love a good chimney. That access to the outdoors can also cause unnecessary heat loss in your home.

After a gas fireplace conversion, these issues disappear. Starting a fire is as easy as turning on a light and many models these days even come with a remote. There’s absolutely no mess involved either way. Your chimney has no access to the home, so you’re not losing heat and you actually don’t even need the traditional kind that so many pests like to call home.

Options for a Gas Fireplace Conversion

One of the underappreciated benefits of a gas fireplace conversion is that it can give your room a whole new look. If you’re trying to modernize things, obviously you’re not going to get very far if your room features a fireplace from decades ago, for example. By switching out the fireplace, you can make it match any style you want for the room.

Your options for a gas fireplace include:

•A gas fireplace kit
•A vent-free gas fireplace
•A gas fireplace insert

None of these involve any changes to the structure of your home or room. However, in terms of their energy use, the way they’ll affect the inside of your home and their general aesthetic, there are some things worth considering. So let’s look at each of these models a little closer.

A Gas Fireplace Kit

For a long time, this was the most popular option for gas fireplaces. Essentially, it looks just like a traditional version, including a collection of logs and sometimes even a grate. While it looks cool, this model needs a damper that’s kept partially open at all times. Otherwise, someone could activate the fireplace and flood their home with carbon monoxide. However, having a damper open at all times means your home is losing the air you’re paying for—whether heated or cooled. The only other option would be to install airtight glass doors, but those could easily cost in excess of $1,000 all by themselves.

A Vent Free Gas Fireplace

One way to solve this problem is to install a vent free gas fireplace. There’s no exhaust going up your chimney, so you keep all the heat in your room. Unfortunately, this means you can really only run the fireplace for three to four hours. All the combustion ends up inside and this includes the moisture released. So this model also isn’t a good idea for homes where people have asthma, allergies, or heart problems. As you can only run it for a few hours at a time, this isn’t the best model for heating a room either.

A Gas Fireplace Insert

This final option is going to be your most expensive. You’re looking at spending about three times as much for this model. Open fires also aren’t an option with this version, but that also means no loss of air. Plus, you can run this fireplace for hours at a time without fear of moisture issues.

So if you’re still considering a gas fireplace conversion, those are your options. They’ll run between $1,000 and $3,000, for the most part, but if you love the look of a fireplace and the heat it provides, you’ll probably find it worth it. A gasfireplace conversion can also be handled in a day, meaning you won’t have to wait long for the finished product either.

Why Should I Consider a Direct Vent Gas Fireplace?

You’re moving into a new home, and you’ve decided that you want to invest in a nice, warm fireplace for your family to enjoy during the winter months. There are so many types out there, though. Which one do you choose to install in your house? Would you go with a traditional wood burning fireplace, or are you going to consider a more economical, easy to care for gas fireplace? In this article, we’re going to take a quick look at some of the main reasons that you may want to consider what is called a direct vent gas fireplace.

What is a Direct Vent Gas Fireplace?

A direct vent gas fireplace gets the air from the outside. It pulls it inside through a vent, and that air makes the spark which gets the fire going rather quickly. This is in contrast with an indoor vent gas fireplace, which just uses the air from inside your house to get the flame started.

Advantages of a Direct Vent Gas Fireplace

Here are some positives that come up in conversations about direct vent gas fireplaces when comparing them to other types of gas fireplaces that are out there.

-          You aren’t losing a lot of heat when you use a direct vent. With other types of gas fireplaces, you use a chimney and a flue, both of which make the air in your home go out and up. This basically sucks the heat out of your fireplace. Direct vent systems don’t do that.

-          Direct vent fireplaces can actually prevent a lot of accidents from happening. With other types of open fireplaces, the fire can end up getting a backdraft because of air pulling back (because of fans and other things), which can cause a fire accidentally. Direct vents have less openings like that, so it’s less likely.
-          Direct vent fireplaces are actually incredibly efficient for reasons other than the heat, which we mentioned above. Since they are a type of gas fireplace, they actually distribute the heat a lot better than say, wood, or another type of fuel. Propane and natural gas burn more evenly and, because of the way these fireplaces are set up, you will find that your house stays warmer too.

-          The installation isn’t as difficult, either. Because you don’t need a flue (the gases are not as hot, so you can put pipes through walls instead), you don’t need to redesign your whole home around putting in one of these fireplaces. They can be put pretty much anywhere that you want them to go, and they won’t cause you to have to tear the whole house apart to make sure that everything is done correctly.

It’s not the answer for everyone, but it’s definitely an option to consider if you’re looking at purchasing some sort of gas fireplace for your home. There are definitely advantages to it, and because of that, you can feel comfortable getting one to warm up your home during those cold nights.
